MANILA, Philippines — Liberal Party (LP) presidential bet Manuel Roxas II told Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte to also open an alleged hidden dollar account following the latter's agreement to have another BPI account said to contain P211 million checked.
In a press conference Friday at the LP headquarters, Roxas said he deposited $10 on that day in the alleged secret dollar account, one of the many accounts that were undeclared in Duterte's statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) which Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV revealed.
Today, $10 was deposited in one of these accounts at nakikita na ito'y nakapangalan kay Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Sara Duterte. $10 was accepted sa BPI din po ito," he said.
A deposit slip showed by Roxas to media revealed that the account was under the name "Rodrigo Roa Duterte or Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Sara Z. Duterte."
He also called out Duterte for denying the existence of the dollar accounts.
Mayor Duterte, time's up. Tell the truth," he said and even compared the mayor to Vice President Jejomar Binay who is facing corruption allegations.
Although the LP bet congratulated the Davao City mayor for agreeing to open his BPI Julia Vargas account, he also scored the latter for flip-flopping about the existence of the alleged secret accounts.
Earlier, the mayor challenged Trillanes to prove the existence of the said secret accounts.
